Calvin Brook
Calvin Brook is a licensed architect and planner, and is a Principal of Brook McIlroy / Pace Architects. Mr. Brook holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Toronto. In addition to professional practice, he has taught at Harvard University, University of Toronto, Carleton University and the University of Waterloo where he held an appointment as Associate Professor of Urban Design. Prior to the creation of Brook McIlroy Inc., he was Principal of Cochrane Brook Planning & Urban Design from 1997 to 2000 and Project Director of Brisbin Brook Beynon Architects since 1987 where, in addition to architectural practice, he founded and led the Urban Design & Planning Division. From 1985 to 1987 he was an urban designer for Sasaki Associates in Boston, Massachusetts where he worked on a number of large-scale master planning projects.
With over twenty-five years of professional practice, Mr. Brook has extensive experience leading land use, master planning and urban design strategies for universities, research and medical institutions, towns, cities, and a variety of private sector clients. He has been the principal designer for over twenty-five university commissioned projects in Canada and the U.S. including partner-in-charge for the preparation of eleven campus plans. Mr. Brook speaks regularly on topics of university and research facility planning and design and is a member of the Society of College and University Planners.
