nkA is an emerging firm with diverse ethnic and design backgrounds. Based in Toronto, this young and award-winning practice dispenses with the traditional conceit of self-serving architectural agendas, focusing instead on an unbiased approach which fosters incisive and responsive solutions to the present challenges faced within our built environment.

With diverse backgrounds in architecture, interior and graphic design, nkA’s synthesis of design disciplines enables it to expand their roles beyond traditional boundaries, engaging each project and client in a collaborative and holistic process of design. This approach is a reflection of the belief that design is an exploratory and inclusive process, engaging stakeholders in an open exchange of ideas which considers the myriad of issues which shape a project. Most importantly, critical to the success of this process is the discipline of attentive listening, distilling a project to its essentials to reveal the hidden potentialities which offer meaningful and relevant influences in its evolution, contextualization and sustainability.
